The Pidgeons of Shropshire-2

Many Pidgeon families originated in Shropshire.  This was one which was not afraid to move to greener pastures.

Thomas Pidgeon was born at Shifnal, Shropshire about 1812.  By 1940 he had gone to London, to seek his fortune as a tailor, but he returned to his native Shropshire in the early 1850s, living at Newport until his death.

His two eldest sons Henry William and Frederick returned to London.  Henry lived in Chelsea and worked as a house painter, while Frederick was a joiner and shop fitter living in central London before moving out to Wood Green.

Thomas’s youngest son, Thomas Haslam was born at Newport but moved first to Northampton, where he married and lived for about 15 years, before moving north to Blackpool.  He worked as a printer compositor.  His only son Reginald Frank emigrated to Australia, marrying in Fremantle, WA, living and working as a carter near Brisbane, Queensland and finally settling at Horsham, Victoria.
