The PIDGEONs of Thorncombe – Hawkchurch branch

James Pidgeon was born in 1800 at Thorncombe, the son of Joseph Pidgeon and Susannah Kitch (see the PIDGEONs of Yarcombe & Thorncombe family tree).  He married Sarah Summers of nearby Hawkchurch, where they settled and brought up their seven children.  Their four sons were baptised with the biblical names of Simeon, Levi, Eli and Enos.

Although James and Sarah died at Hawkchurch, few of their family remained there for long.  Simeon went off to Hampshire, where he married at Catherington and settled at Havant.  Harriet went to London, Selina to Brighton, where Emma died aged about 21.  Levi, Eli and Enos settled about 5 miles away at Winsham, although Enos and his family spent several years in South Wales, where his son Tom settled.
