The Pidgeons of Wrockwardine Wood

Wrockwardine Wood was originally a detached piece of woodland, then a township, formerly belonging to the manor and parish of Wrockwardine.  Wrockwardine is located approximately 4 miles from Wrockwardine Wood.  18th century industrial revolution Wrockwardine Wood was inhabited by coal and iron mine workers and their families.  [Wikipedia]  This Pidgeon family lived at Wrockwardine Wood.

James Pidgeon was probably born in 1770 (being about 10 years younger than the age given at his death), the son of John Pidgeon and Elizabeth Evans (see the Pidgeons of Upton Magna branch-1 family tree), at Upton Magna, which is about 9 miles west of Wrockwardine Wood.  He probably came to Wrockwardine Wood in search of work, and met and married Mary Johnson of nearby Wellington there.

With help from Phil Rowding.
