Henry PIDGEON married Sarah GRANGE at Stockland in 1714. Henry may have been the son of either John PIDGEON and Alice STYLES or Henry PIDGEON and Patience SEARLE. Both their sons Henry were born at Cotleigh within two years of each other. Here, we assume the one who married Sarah was the latter, the younger of the two and the son of Henry and Patience. (See the PIDGEONs of Cotleigh family tree.)

Great-great-great-grandson Fred James PIDGEON (born 1858) was a baker who travelled from Dorset to Ilkeston, Derbyshire. His father James was born at Chard about 1820, married in Dorchester and died when only 42 years old, as a result of a spinal injury. Six years later, his mother died, and Fred was put into an orphan’s home in Bristol. It was after he left the orphanage that he travelled to Ilkeston, where he met and married Sarah POTTER. After Sarah died at the age of 33, Fred and his three spinster daughters lived in Nottingham from the 1900s until their deaths.

There are no known living Pidgeon descendants of this branch of the family, although it Is not known what happened to Henry’s youngest son William (born 1720).
