PIGEONs of Jersey (Jean)

Jean Pigeon (Frenchman) and Elizabeth Nicolle were married at St Helier in 1795. The marriage record does not record the names of their parents, and no birth or baptism records can be found for them, so it is not known where they were born. Many Pigeons lived on the nearby French mainland in the Normandy department of La Manche, so it is thought that was where Jean came from.

Most of their descendants continued to live on Jersey, except those descended from great-great-grandson John Walter Pigeon who went to London, England. A grandson Daniel Elie Pigeon was transported to Tasmania in 1850, whence it is thought he escaped, made his way to New Zealand and changed his name to Wilson.
