PIDGEONs of Kilmington, Devon – Bridport branch

James Pidgeon was the son of John Pidgeon and his second wife Susannah French of Kilmington, Devon (see the Pidgeons of Kilmington family tree). He was born in 1788, and by the time he was 20 years old he had left home and gone to live at Bridport Dorset. In 1808 he married Sarah Budden of Bridport, and they raised a family there. James and his sons were sawyers. One of his sons John took his family to Poplar in east London in the 1870s. A grandson William James took his family to Stafford around the same time. Otherwise, most of this family stayed in the Dorset and nearby county of Hampshire.
