PIDGEONs of Newport, Shropshire & London

Thomas PIDGEON was born at Shifnal, Shropshire about 1812. When he married, his father was given as Henry Pidgeon deceased, so he was probably the son of Henry & Sophia (see the PIDGEONs of Shifnal family tree). By 1846, when he married Ann LEAKE, he had gone to London, to seek his fortune as a tailor, but he returned to his native Shropshire in the early 1850s, living at Newport until his death.

THis two eldest sons Henry William and Frederick returned to London. Henry lived in Chelsea and worked as a house painter, while Frederick was a joiner and shop fitter living in central London before moving out to Wood Green.

Thomas’s youngest son, Thomas Haslam was born at Newport but moved first to Northampton, where he married and lived for about 15 years, before moving north to Blackpool. He worked as a printer compositor.
