PIDGEONs of Nottingham

Two William PIDGEONs and their families(so far unconnected) lived in Nottingham in the 19th century.

William Pigeon (the elder) was born about 1772, but it’s not known where. He married Diana and lived at Basford. He was known to have been a farmer, a publican and, finally, a Chelsea pensioner, having served as a sergeant in the 63rd Foot. A son William junior was born in 1816, and he became a butcher.

William Pidgeon (the younger) was born about 1821 at Basford, the son of William, a butcher – so not the above William senior, and a different butcher from the above William junior. He married Mary Cunnington in 1841 at Oakham, Rutland, and they, too lived at Basford.
