PIDGEONs of Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada

James Pidgeon was the youngest son of John Pidgeon and Anne Saunders of Awliscombe, Devon, England, (see the Pidgeons of Awliscombe family tree).  James was born in 1802 at Awliscombe and emigrated to Canada about 1820.  In 1823 he married Ann MacLeod, who was born in Sutherland, Scotland about 1805.  James and Ann settled at New London, near French River on Prince Edward Island, Canada.  For many years he was a Justice of the Peace and held many important offices.  Deeply attached to the church of England, James read the services “with much acceptance” in the absence of a clergyman.
