PIDGEONs of Sutton-under-Brailes, Warwickshire

Sutton-under-Brailes, Brailes, Lower Brailes, Burmington, Cherrington, Eatington (now Ettington), Ilmington, Willington and Whichford are all parishes or small villages in the south of Warwickshire. Most are in the registration district of Shipston-on Stour – except Eatington which is in Stratford-upon Avon. Do not confuse Burmington with Birmingham, which is a large city in what used to be the north-west of Warwickshire, but is now part of the county of West Midlands.

It is not known where Thomas Pidgeon and Mary Reason came from. They married at Sutton-under-Brailes in 1731, and their children and grandson William wee born there. Two of their great-great-grandsons emigrated to Ontario, Canada around 1870. In spite of a Y-DNA test on one of their descendants, we still have no clue as to where Thomas originated.

Additional contribution: Walter Pidgeon
