PIDGEONs of Thorncombe - Chard & Derby branch

William Pidgeon was born in 1839 at Thorncombe, the son of Henry Pidgeon and Elizabeth Quintin (see the PIDGEONs of Yarcombe & Thorncombe family tree). He married Elizabeth Collins at Chard, where they settled and brought up their five children.

Their second son George married Emma Boyland at Taunton, and they also settled at Chard and raised eight children there. This was a family of lace makers, and their three eldest sons Thomas, George and Herbert moved north to Derby to improve their prospects in the silk making industry there. Most of their numerous descendants still live in the Derby area.

Contributors: Basil Pidgeon, Lillian Pidgeon & Catherine Hardy of Derby
