PIDGEONs of Tiverton, Devon

No one knows where Henry Pidgeon came from; perhaps his baptism record was one of those which perished in the 1850 fire at Sidbury vicarage. He was married at Hockworthy in 1788, and by the 1790s he had settled in the town of Tiverton. His son Henry was quite an unlucky father – in 10 years between 1838 and 1848 he lost two wives and five children. Only a third wife and bachelor son Richard outlived him.
