Irish PIDGEONs of Wolverhampton, Staffordshire

Anthony and Thomas Pidgeon were born in Ireland and appeared in Wolverhampton around the same time. Both were iron works labourers, and married Carey sisters from Ireland, but they were not brothers. Anthony came from County Mayo, so Thomas probably did as well – see the Pidgeons of County Mayo family tree.

Anthony and Catherine had a large family of ten children, and descendants of their family still live in Wolverhampton.

Thomas and Ann’s marriage broke down. From 1872 onwards Ann bore six children by William Bridges, who had been a boarder with Thomas and Ann in 1871. Thomas cannot be found in the 1881 census, but died in a workhouse at Linthorpe, near Middlesbrough in 1882. The following year, with Thomas out of the way, Ann married William Bridges.
