PIDGEONs of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk  (William branch)

William Pidgeon and Ann Webster were married at Great Yarmouth in 1778 (see the PIDGEONs of Great Yarmouth family tree). After Ann died in 1799, William married Elizabeth Davy (née Allington). When Elizabeth died in 1806, leaving William with several young children to bring up, it is thought that at least one of them was farmed out to relatives in London, which explains why Joseph James was described as “of St Giles” in the marriage register.

Joseph James Pidgeon and Elizabeth Cook Sheppard married in 1823 The bulk of their family remained in Great Yarmouth, and it wasn’t until the late 19th century that some of them moved away. Their sixth child Samuel Sheppard Pidgeon moved to London about 1870 and was followed by some of his younger siblings.
